März Update

14 03 2012

Versprochen!

Thailand 2011

1 03 2011

Hi everyone,

We are now back in Brisbane for over a week and I finally found a couple minutes to write a blog about our trip to Thailand. To make a long story short: It was fantastic! 3 weeks of beautiful weather, dream beaches and pure relaxation. My parents and my brother Kolja were there and it was great to catch up. We spent the most of the time on Phuket, Thailand’s biggest island. From there we also took a boat trip to Phi Phi Island. I can honestly recommend Thailand to everyone for a holiday.

Unfortunately work got us all back already and the trip seems to be ages ago.

Anyway, here are the pictures of our trip:

Brisbane Roar @ Skilled Park

9 08 2010

Yesterday a few colleagues from work, Tony and me went down to the Gold Coast to see the Brisbane Roars first game of the new A-League season. It was a nice day at Skilled Park and Brisbane played against Gold Coast United. Unfortunately the game ended 0:0 but it was still a good game to watch. Many chances on both sides and good savings from both keepers. Brisbane was close to the winning goal but they couldn’t get past the Gold Coast keeper. They also have a new german attacking midfielder. Thomas Broich (ex-Nürnberg, ex-Kaiserslautern) made a good game and seems to make a positive impact to the Roar side.

I attached a few pictures of Skilled Park from my mobile. Once again the attendance was disappointing. Only 6500 spectators game to the game, although it was the Queensland derby.

… off to Never Never Land!

15 05 2010

Yep, Nat and me will go to see Metallica this October in Brisbane. I’m especially happy for Nat since she hasn’t seen them live yet. I, of course, have seen them at least 5 times :) But it will be the first time for me to see them indoors and with their famouse star stage in the middle of the arena. They play the Brisbane Entertainment Center by the way. It’s going to be awesome!

Tickets were ridiculously expensive though. $150 per ticket ist just disgusting. But hey, looks like Metallica gets through with it, the concerts get sold out anyway!

A morning at the Brisbane Markets

8 05 2010

This morning we went to the Brisbane Markets to get some fresh fruit and veggies. The Brisbane Markets are really good for getting good quality for a reasonable price. We also enjoyed at second breakfast at the ‘German Wursthaus & Delikatessen’ booth (see the pictures below). No wonder everybody in the World has a strange idea about Germans. We all seem to eat Bratwurst and Sauerkraut every day and Beer comes out of the tap. ;) Well Finlay (and me) definitely enjoyed our Bratwurst, but although the guy who made them was German, it still didn’t taste like Konnopke :)

AUS vs IND @ Suncorp Stadium

4 03 2010

Yesterday my mate Tony and I went to Suncorp Stadium to watch the Socceroos (yes I know, horrible name for a football team, but Australians give all their teams names like that) play against Indonesia. This was a Qualifier for the Asian Cup in 2011. Australia needed at least a draw to qualify directly for the Asian Cup.

The game was entertaining but for some reason I expected I bit higher quality football. Ok Indonesia wasn’t in the position to do better, but Australia only did the minimum they need to win the game. Well the game ended 1:0 for Australia so I guess they did something right. But in regards to the upcoming World Cup, Germany doesn’t need to worry. Australia seems beatable. Although yesterday all players who play in European Leagues didn’t play, so it was somewhat of a reduced squad.

Anyway, I took some pictures with my mobile, which I uploaded below. There where only about 20.000 spectators. I actually expected much more and was a bit disappointed about that.

Summer in Townsville means …

5 02 2010

… Rain!

We spend 10 days in Townsville in late January and it rained the whole time. Well, I suppose that’s why they call it “tropical north Queensland”. We had a good time anyway and it was good to catch up with Nats side of the family. Finlay loved all the attention he got from his cousins. Australia day was celebrated too with the typical BBQ and beer :) I had fun ;)

Below you’ll find a link to some pictures of our time in Townsville.

ahh nearly forgot, maybe some of you don’t know yet: I finished my thesis and therefore my studies as well. You can call me ‘Diplom-Ingenieur’ now :) :) :)

Happy New Year from Brissie

4 01 2010

A bit late (as usual) but anyway: Happy New Year to all our family and friends around the world. :)

We celebrated New Years Eve with an old friend from Germany: Johannes aka A-Pu aka Asselpunk was in Brisbane to visit his girlfriend Yoon. We had a BBQ the day before New Years Eve and Johannes came over the next day too. Unfortunately Yoon had to work New Years Eve (she’s a nurse too) and Nat was on-call, which meant only the boys hit the booze. Well except Finlay of course. He had fun dancing to our Guitar Hero Metallica game. Below are a few pictures. They are all a bit blurry … don’t know why … ;)
